In the early 40s Christian Dior studied political science and just after started up his career in fashion world working before as freelance designer and after together with Lucine Lèlong.
In 1946 he established his Maison in “a private house” at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris and in 1947 he presented his first collection "Ligne Corolle".
Dior opened new boutiques in the USA, Mexico, Cuba, Canada and Italy. Furthermore, he created a collection of perfumes and cosmetics. The designer died prematurely in 1957 of heart attack.
In the same year, Yves Saint Laurent nearly 21, was nominated Art Director of Dior company, followed by Marc Bohan and later by Gianfranco Ferrè.
In 1987 the company, that was going through a critical period, became part of LVMH-Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy S.A group. Since 1999 is John Galliano the Art Director of Pret -à –porter and many other collections. Dior Homme is the menswear sector of Christian Dior SA. Hemi Slimane is the art director of Dior Homme collection from 2001 to 2007. His style is characterized by a slim silhouette and rock details, especially in 2004 collection. Since 2007 is Kris Van Assche the Art Director of Dior Homme.
